My Morning Skincare Routine, AM Skincare Routine

Normally my time-keeping is so good, yet here we are over an hour and a half late. I was meant to surface a little earlier this morning to finish off this post, however the duvet coerced me into staying in a bed a little longer than I would have liked. The tea was flowing and both Tom and Tilly were in the mood for serious cuddles. If you're new to my blog, they're my cats.

Better late than never, here I am sharing with you my current rather brilliant (if I do say myself) skincare routine.  Let's start with a rather quick intro...

Skincare is a massive part of my beauty routine. In fact as the years pass by I wear and buy much less makeup, preferring the feeling of a bare, fresh face without the feeling of a heavy foundation (Estee Lauder Double Wear), which I favoured many moons ago. Although there was no real need for it when my skin was blemish free anyway.

It was the only foundation which would last well into the hours of the early morning after a night out dancing at the local club, shaking our thang like Beyonce and drinking apple sours (yuk). Walking barefoot along the pavement carrying our prettiest yet most uncomfortable 6 inch heels.

Using less makeup, means over time I have also simplified my skincare routine. The products which I am currently using daily in the morning work in harmony together. I've never been one to scrimp on skincare and am pleased to have found great products which make my skin feel happier than ever.

Without further ado, let's get down to the reason you are here (less of the club and twerking) and talk skincare.

Duration of Routine: 15 minutes tops.
Skin Type: Dry & suffers from redness.

Beauty Pie Plantastic Apricot Butter Cleansing Balm
The most beautiful apricot scented oily balm, to refresh and leave skin feeling soft and squeaky clean.

If you haven't heard about Beauty Pie, where have you been? Beauty Pie sell luxury beauty at affordable prices, direct from the manufacturer. Excellent skincare for a fraction of the price (I am yet to try any makeup or hair-care).

Their Cleansing Balm has become a firm favourite in my routine. The scent is lovely but not overpowering and the actual product itself is more oily than greasy, which melts away product and dirt with minimal ease. After using this my skin feels soft, nourished and soothed. Definitely a balm I would repurchase.

I then move onto a micellar water, currently my favourite is...

Drunk Elephant E-Rase Milki Micellar Water
I was on the fence about trying Drunk Elephant's Water, as it seems fairly pricey for essentially a water which you wipe all over your face, however it's so much more than that.

I have only been using their Milki Micellar Water for a few days now, so this product is a newcomer to my routine, however it's excellent.

The almost gel-like texture of this product works magic on the skin, to leave your complexion feeling soft, soothed and ultra clean, all without stripping or drying your skin out.

For a double cleanse, these two cleansing products work in harmony together to leave skin feeling clean and looking healthy.

Origins Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Treatment Lotion
As I mentioned at the start of this post, my skin is prone to redness and has a rosy tone.  After cleansing I do like to swipe a toner over my complexion. Currently my favourite is Origins Mega Mushroom Soothing Treatment Lotion.

I have found using daily each morning, this toner leaves my skin feeling refreshed and my usual rosy tones, are well, less rosy!

The lotion is cooling on the skin and is the perfect prep step before adding a hit of hydration. I am hoping that over time, the redness to my skin will reduce further.

Odacite Mint + Green Tea Hydra-Purifying Treatment
You all know I love a mist and am always trying something new. The latest product and face mist to feature in my skincare routine is Odacite's Mint and Green Tea

The scent is beautiful. If you brewed a cup of peppermint tea at home and spritzed the remnants all over your skin, I'm guessing this is the aroma you'd experience.

The mist itself is refreshing and soothing on the skin and is the most perfect way to dial up the hydration before finishing with your moisturiser of choice.

So far, so good, I'm really enjoying this product.

The Inkey List Caffeine Eye Cream
Only recently have I admitted to myself that maybe I should get on the eye cream wagon and invest in something to improve the appearance of any fine lines I may have.

I'm lucky to not yet have any crows feet and when they do come, I guess I will have to embrace the fact that I'm here and getting older!

My eyes are extremely sensitive so I am reluctant to use any product near them, the gentlest of mascaras or eye cream can cause itching, redness and watery eyes.

Another product to pack on before finishing with moisturiser, I have found The Inkey List's Caffeine Eye Cream to be working a treat so far.

It soothes the skin under my eyes to leave skin feeling smooth, fairly supple and less puffy. Perfect for those mornings following not the best nights sleep!

I'm not one to slap a tonne of concealer under my eyes as I hate the cracked effect, highlighting any lines I may have, so using The Inkey List's Caffeine Eye Cream is perfect to really help with dark circles to leave me feeling and looking more awake.

If you're in the market for a great new cream and not wanting to spend much, this is a really great option to try. And my eyes are behaving and not complaining so far!

Dr Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream
Sticking with the theme of reducing redness and soothing the skin, Dr Jart's Cicapair has become another favourite within my routine.

A little of this cream goes an extremely long way, the texture is quite rich yet non-greasy on the skin.  It's nourishing and sinks beautifully into the skin when the product is warmed up between the fingers.

It almost leaves a healthy sheen to the skin and used in conjunction with the other products within my routine, leaves my skin feeling and looking healthy, any redness reduced and my complexion fresh.

Origins Ginzing Ultra Hydrating Energy Boosting Cream
For the lack-lustre skin days Origins Ginzing Energy Boosting Cream is a welcome sight. Very rich, this is one product you need very little of.

It certainly peps up tired and skin which feels a little meh. Although I love this product the rich nature leaves me looking very shiny and oily.

Perfect for Sundays, when you're staying in and snuggling under a blanket or having laptop time.

Thank You Farmer Sun Project Water Sun Cream
We are all aware we should be using SPF daily, however I must admit sometimes it falls by the wayside. If you're looking to invest in a high factor facial sun cream, this is a really great option to try.

I wouldn't necessarily use with the Tiger Grass Cream, however for an afternoon in the garden, down the beach or bike ride around our village this is the most wonderful lightweight cream.

Packed with SPF50 it doesn't leave the white cast on the skin we all dread, instead it plumps the skin and offers a decent hit of hydration. It's easy to apply and absorbs quickly.

Thank You Farmer's Sun Cream gets a massive thumbs up from me!

I am a massive fan of all products featured in this post. If you hang around I'm sure there will be new products introduced along the way and older products I love switched in.

For now though I am loving the simplicity and ease of treating my skin every morning and the results these few products used together give.

I thought it was worth mentioning Lush's Cup O'Coffee and Oatifix. A self-confessed masker, of course I am not using these products daily, however they are my current go-tos and I will update you all soon once I have given them a proper road test!

Have you tried any of these products? What are you currently loving in your skincare stash at the moment? Is there anything I need to add to my shopping list?
